We’ve partnered with our friends over at Flatpack Festival and Creative Skillset to offer a 4 day residential course that will provide participants with a thorough understanding of the changing film finance landscape.
Taught by experienced filmmakers, trainees will access practical workshops, talks and screenings, through which they will:
- Develop knowledge concerning the different models of film financing
- Understand the link between finance and distribution
- Find out about new and innovative funding models
- Learn how to make use of digital technologies to identify audiences and raise funds pre and post production
- Improve skills in writing finance proposals and pitching documents
By the end of the intensive programme, participants will have developed fundraising strategies for a project they are currently developing.

Who is this Second Light training programme aimed at?
We are looking for teams of writers, directors and producers from across the UK to apply collectively as teams, though individuals are also welcomed.
Applicants need to have experience in short filmmaking, including a festival or broadcast credit, and be able to demonstrate that they are ready to develop their professional practice, moving from short form to feature film production.
This opportunity is targeted towards new entrants and a number of places will be reserved for filmmakers based in the West Midlands.
Dates and Location
Show Me the Money is taking place from Monday 25 to Thurs 28 March 2013, in a central Birmingham based venue.

There is a 2 stage application process:
- Closing deadline for applications is 8 February at 2pm.
- Shortlisted applicants invited to selection day w/c 4 March
- Successful applicants notified by 11 March
Cost – £80 which covers accommodation and meals
This is a residential training programme and associate costs (accommodation and meals), will be covered, as well as access to sections of Flatpack Festival programme.
Successful applicants will be able to apply for bursaries (if they meet certain criteria). This will be explained within the application process.
