Latest News from Second Light
Since completing their training a significant number of the Second Light graduates have gone on to further placements, employment or higher education.
Notable successes:
• Mawaan (SL London) has been selected for Comedy Labs, a new initiative that Gurinder Chadha is using to develop ideas to be pitched at broadcasters.
• Two trainees (Daniel – SL Glasgow and Corinna – SL London) were selected by interview to work on BOND23.
• Ifty (SL Glasgow) worked for 6 weeks as camera trainee with Sixteen Films, on the new Ken Loach feature, The Angel’s Share, set in Glasgow/Edinburgh
• Shanai, (SL Bristol), has been selected from 250 applicants for an apprenticeship with BBC Bristol, in the role of Production Management Assistant.
• Kaysi (SL London) is a production runner with Optomen TV
• Mark (SL Bristol) has recently been made a full time member of staff in ALL3MEDIA’s digital team
• Orlando (SL Bristol) has been accepted onto Westminster University’s film course
• Azy (SL Glasgow) is studying the Production MA at the National Film and TV School, its first Scottish Asian to do so
• Yusuf (SL Glasgow) will be starting the screening writing BA at Bournemouth Screen Academy in the autumn.
