Screen Gurus - working with young people

Screen Gurus Workshop: Approaches to Working with Young People

Monday 21st January 2013
10:00 – 16:30
Eden Court, Bishops Road, Inverness IV3 5SA

Screen Gurus is the new talent hub for film professionals working in film skills, film literacy and film education across Scotland, aiming to build the skills, expertise and experience of individuals working in the sector.

For the second of our programme of workshops, guest speakers Yen Yau and Daniel Smith, Project Managers at First Light, will be delivering a selection of bespoke sessions throughout the day to support the CPD of film professionals based in/around the Inverness and Highlands area.

There is no charge for this event. These workshops are supported by the Creative Scotland Creative Futures Fund.

The sessions will draw upon their areas of expertise which include careers advice; talent and skills development; film industry trends and opportunities for young people; working within the classroom environment and developing mentoring programmes.

The morning will utilise First Light films to illustrate types of projects and groups that have used film to engage with young people – looking at aims, objectives and outcomes; and case studies of outstanding projects and why they were successful.

A networking lunch will be provided.

The afternoon workshops will cover areas including child protection; mentoring of young people by industry professionals; and careers advice for those with a real interest in working in this sector.

To book a place on this informative session, please visit the Eventbrite web page and reserve your ticket.
