CBBC ME AND MY MOVIE, in association with BAFTA, NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

Today CBBC and BAFTA announced the four nominations in this year’s ME AND MY MOVIE competition. The initiative, which was launched on Blue Peter in June 2009 aims to inspire and enable children to make their own films and tell their own stories.

BBC and BAFTA experts have watched nearly 800 entries, which were submitted to the website, and selected the following four films as nominations for the exclusive award:

  • N.O. News by Dominic aged 10 from London
  • Vern’s Vacation by Lauren aged 14 from Isle of Man
  • Safari Adventure! by Sumayya aged 10 and team from Birmingham
  • The Penguins Protest by Natalie aged 14 from Gloucestershire

All four nominees will attend the prestigious EA British Academy Children’s Awards in London on Sunday 29 November where the winner, chosen by a Super Jury comprising film producers, directors and actors, will receive their award from Blue Peter presenter, Joel Defries and leading actress Michelle Ryan.

The 2008 award was won by 13 year old Leah Cooper from Essex. Leah’s film, ‘The Prank’ was about a cheeky wooden mannequin who decides to play a prank on the Queen.
