The KKB Show in Lagos, Nigeria

In 2009 Doyin Akinlade, a Nigerian producer contacted First Light for advice. Doyin has many years experience of working with young people in TV but was very interested in First Light’s vision & the possibilities of bringing that ethos to the young people of Lagos. After many emails & exchanging of DVDs, Doyin came to the UK for a visit. He made time to come to the First Light office to talk to staff directly. It is hoped that Doyin went away with a clearer vision of how filmmaking can develop the talent of Nigerian youngsters.

Meanwhile Doyin continues to inspire the young people of Lagos with The KKB Show. The KKB Show is an acronym for Kids Know Better. It is a children’s programme that aims at promoting talents in kids and providing a platform for kids to express themselves and learn positive values.

The show has been on air since April 2004 and is the bridge for qualitative entertainment and post classroom education for the Nigerian child. The KKB Show offers membership to young people who are talented through the KKB CLUB, which gives kids the opportunity to be a part of the KKB cast and appear on television. Also, young people have the opportunity to participate in all KKB events and projects.
