Jonnie Turpie
Director of Digital Media at Maverick Television
Jonnie Turpie founded Maverick Television in 1994 and now heads up the company’s digital media business as part of the ALL3MEDIA group which Maverick joined in 2007. He has initiated many of the company’s digital and online projects including Embarrassing Bodies, Ideasfactory, 4Talent and Teachers TV. Jonnie led the consortium that secured and delivers the breakthrough digital health service for the West Midlands – NHS local – and has pioneered the use of new technology in television, both in the use of small-format cameras and high-end post-production graphics. This digital approach led to many early successes, such as the much-loved Trade Secrets series and award-winning DV dramas Blazed, The Visit and Nightshift. Jonnie is a director of Birmingham Ormiston Academy, a Fellow of Warwick University and sits on the Board of Creative England. He was awarded an MBE in the Queens 2010 New Year Honours list for services to international sales. Jonnie Chaired and subsequently Executive Chaired Screen WM from 2002 – 2008.
