Travis Card's story
Travis Card made a First Light animated film called Eddie’s Day with a group of young people involved with the Brighton and Hove Young Carers, which recently screened in Brighton. Travis has since turned into a bit of an entrepreneur and has started his own photography and photo enhancing business.
First Light caught up with 16-year-old Travis to see what advice he can give our budding young filmmakers.
FL: What was your main role in the film?
TC: Making the animation and set displays.
FL: Do you think working on a First Light film will inspire you to pursue further training and a career in film or TV?
TC: Absolutely would love to.
FL: Was being involved with a First Light film a unique experience, what was good about it?
TC: I learnt so many different techniques on how to make an animated film and have appreciated how long it can take for a four minute movie to be made.
FL: Did working on a First Light film project inspire you to start your own photography business?
TC: Yes definitely, because with photography you can still make an animation film through using pictures.
FL: What would be your ideal job?
TC: To work within animation and filmmaking. So if there is any one out there wanting a budding young trainee, don’t forget to get in contact with me. I am keen and eager to learn all there is know.
FL: Anything else you can tell us about making a First Light film, or any advice you can give to other young people just starting out?
TC: If you have always thought of doing it, then just give it a go. You only gain something by trying.
